Pick Up Your Phone Instead Of Emailing To Communicate And Make Someone's Day

19 March, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to be able to pick up and just go to a different country or a different state on a whim? How would it be to get a phone call from a friend and when they ask if you can head out-of-town for the weekend you can actually say yes? Oh, what freedom!

As I was watching The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, it seems these girls have this type of life. Now granted they are all college students and barely getting out on their own, but they are portrayed as very independent gals who confide in each other about pretty much everything. One girl has family in Greece and gets to spend time there for summers or trips on the fly. They travel to different states and countries just to get to be there for each other.

One thing these gals become too dependent on is technology, and some of the communication between them falters because they’re relying on email and the capabilities of the high speed Internet. As they get together and find out that some received certain Emails and others did not, one gal voices her opinion and asked whatever happened to a simple phone call.

Email is a great way to keep in touch with others, but sometimes just a simple phone call is a much easier and more personal mode of communication. Email can get lost in crowded inboxes and spam filters. Your phone is a great way to stay in-the-know with your friends and family so that you don't risk a personal email ending up as junk.

We all love the Internet (AT&T makes it even better!) and with faster "high-speed" speeds available it seems even more convenient. But the phone will always be the classic mode of personal communication. When you have something important to say, you should always tell someone over a phone call.
